pulling in neutral - Road Star Warrior Forum : Yamaha Star Warrior ...

My bike is pulling when I first start it up and it is still in neutral, it really starts to creep forward on me when I put it in first. After it warms up it does fine. Just wondering if my clutch is going out or if it needs adjusting. I'm hoping this has a diy fix because the wife says I'm over my spending limit for the bike!!! Thanks in advance for all your help. Try adjusting the clutch thumb wheel that is located under the rubber bellows (boot)cover where the cable enters the handle housing. Move the boot, loosed the thumb wheel lock, adjust the small stud thumb screw out of the housing & check the free play. The free play is the amount of space between the handle & housing at the front of the housing. Some like the thickness of a nickle, I like it a bit closer to the housing about the thickness of a credit card. Lock the large thumb wheel & reinstall the rubber boot Ya, my bike was shifting rough. Going down gears and putting it in neutral was rough. I swore the clutch wasn't fully disengaging! I pull over and look at that rubber boot. I pulled it and hello! The thumb wheel lock was just spinning, extremely loose. A couple turns and ta-da! Perfect shifts once again.
