1. Celebrate Fairfax Festival
Where/When: 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax/Friday, June 10-Sunday, June 12
Why Go: Enjoy live concerts, carnival rides, a petting zoo, karaoke contest, and great festival food this weekend. There is something for everyone at Northern Virginia’s largest community-wide celebration.

2. Pig Roast
Pricing: Suggested donation is $12 per person.
3. Braddock Nights
Where/When: Royal Lake Park, 5344 Gainsborough Drive, Fairfax/Friday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m.
Why Go: Andrew McKnight & Beyond Boarders is an Appalachian/blues/folk group that will appeal to music lovers of all ages.
Pricing: Free
4.Van Dyck Park Walking Group
Where/When: Van Dyck Park, Saturday 9-10 a.m.
Why Go: Make a commitment to slim down and get fit for the summer. Losing weight is easier with others to help push you along. The group meets every Saturday, same place, same time.
Pricing: Event is free but registration is suggested. Early registrants will receive a free gift.
5. Ride for the House Poker Run
Where/When: Patriot Harley Davidson, Saturday 8 a.m.
Why Go: Motorcycle riders will join together for the Ride for the House Poker Run sponsored by Patriot Harley Davidson. All entry fees and donations will help support Fisher House, which builds “comfort houses” on the grounds of major military and VA medical facilities to house the loved ones of soldiers being treated at the facility.
Riders will travel to several stops on the route to pick up cards to add to their poker hand. At the end of the ride, the rider with the best poker hand wins. The grand prize winner receives prizes from Patriot Harley Davidson plus tickets and VIP parking to the Def Leppard/Heart show at Jiffy Lube Live on July 9th.

Looking For Ideas To Revive Karaoke In My Area....
One idea I use with great success is a karaoke lottery. The bar can kick out a prize to the contest each week. I like using gift cards for the location so they dont worry about a cash prize being spent elsewhere, like $20 to $50. Basicly you get to pick a number between 1 and 100 each time you sing a song. Near the end of the night, you draw a number and if a singer has the number drawn, they win the prize. Now here's where it get interesting and draws crowds. If you run the contest for 3 hours during your show and are super busy, you will get roughly 50 singers during that period. That mean 50% of the choices are still empty. If there is no winner that night, it gets added to the pot for next week. Some nights you will have a winner, some you won't which means a larger prize and more people will come in the larger it gets. I've had one go 10 weeks without a winner and the eventual winner got $500.
