Review: Michael Buble and fans light up the Consol Energy Center
Most national artists on tour travel with guitar techs, sound guys and set riggers. I want to know, who's in charge of waxing the bottom of Michael Buble's shoes?
The sexy crooner slid across the stage and sang his way into the hearts of the 10,000 strong audience Friday night at The aptly named Consol Energy Center where fun was center stage.
The almost two hour show, on the Crazy Love Tour (version 2.0) has a lot of the same elements found in last year's show. Same songs, same jokes and a very similar set list.
This year, Buble sported a playoff beard in support of this beloved Vancouver Canucks as he delivered a high-energy performance brimming with confidence and fun to the expectant audience who happily partied the night away.
Standard set opener "Cry Me A River," was followed up by "All of Me" and "At This Moment." Buble took some time out to thank the numerous fans who showed up en masse with signs. A few lucky sign-toters including 13 year-old Madison Jung from Wadsworth, Ohio got their wish for a birthday hug from Buble.
He was in fine voice all evening showcasing those capable chops on the likes of "Best of Me," and "Crazy Love" to name a few. One of the lovelier sections of the night was when he moved to the auxilary stage in the middle of the floor to deliver guitar-based acoustic versions of "Home" and "For Once in My Life."
The 13 piece band had a great little showcase with trumpeter Jumani Smith delivering a killer solo on "Georgia." Other musicans also had their turn in a smartly designed segment that showcased the them and the great facility in which they played. It was spot on.
The stage has evolved through the past few years and I found this one the best of all. Five video screens slowly moved showing the action in an artistic way. Three larger screens, two fixed on the wings and one on center gave another vantage point. Lighted pillars gave great lighting without being obtrusive. The overall effect was perfect and really added to the show.
The big disappointment is the set list. There is such a wealth of music in the great American songbook that changing up some of these tunes should be a piece of cake for these guys. After all, most of them have been playing together for 9 years. Longtime fans deserve to hear some fresh material alongside favorites such as "Mack the Knife" and "Haven't Met You Yet." Plus, we really want to hear him sing something new.
Buble is no Sinatra -- and he doesn't want to be. But he knows what he's good at and delivers it with enthusiasm and style to his adoring fans.

Kicking his microphone stand up to his hands, Bublé added a syncopated swagger to an encore performance of "Feeling Good" while silver confetti filled the air. As quickly as he roused the energized crowd, Bublé managed to hush them as he filled the

She appeared at the back of the Theatre and immediately began belting out the opening lines -- acapella -- of "Feeling Good," the song made famous again by Michael Buble (but recorded by hundreds of artists over the years).
Buble offered a heartfelt thank you to the fans before closing the show with “Feeling Good,” “Me and Mrs. Jones,” and “Song For You.” In a time when controversial songs, outlandish costumes and bizarre antics seem to rule the music industry, Michael

glad to hear the new job is going well; same for my spouse at his new job.
here it is spring, with all the flowers and trees and grasses growing. it has not been too hot yet, but my allergies have been killing me!
smooches and hugs and luv to all of you at scarlet oak cottage!
I have been reading your blog for some time now and I have enjoyed it immensely. I am so happy for you with your new job and I hope all goes well in your move. In 2005 I had a cyst removed in my brain. When I asked if it could be left, the doctor said, "Yes but you could go into a coma at any time and then die." Needless to say I went with the surgery and after some huge readjustments (like not being able to work), I can safely say every morning I wake up I am grateful and for the most part feeling good!!So glad the new job is going well. Change is always uncertain, but - for the most part - thoughtful change helps one grow and expand horizons.
What makes me feel good? The look on someone's face (preferably a stranger) who is handed the newly finished socks after they commented on my knitting with something like, "My grandmother used to do that with string." or "Is that really how they make socks?" or "All those sticks and it makes something?" There is nothing better than having the theraputic benefits of knitting, having something to do in lines or on planes, and then being able to give a stranger an unexpected gift that makes them remember someone in their past who used to knit for them. It keeps people and generations linked.
Have so enjoyed your blog for several years. Thank you!
Woops its a bit late but I'll add my 2cents as you haven't picked a winner yet.
As a first time Mum I must confess that sleep makes me feel good. I take it when I get it - morning tea time, lunch time, afternoon, night. Always at a couple of hours at a time and not necessarily enough but its wonderful. I can't imagine what it would be like to have one of my old sleep ins to 11 or 12.
