Cyril fights back
Singing star Marsha Vadhanapanich is keeping a stiff upper lip in the face of leaked pictures allegedly showing her being intimate with a Frenchman whom she is suing for extortion.
The images, which appeared in the media last week, show a bare-breasted woman who looks like Marsha, kissing and canoodling with a man resembling Cyril Rouhani, who helped Marsha produce her latest album.
The pair share passionate kisses. To the consternation of her fans, the Marsha figure is also seated with her legs apart, with her knickers exposed; smoking; and wearing the slimmest of bikini briefs. The release of the images coincides with a campaign on the internet to resuscitate Cyril's reputation.
Cyril has started half a dozen blogs in which he posts intimate pictures of himself with Marsha, and pictures of the pair working on her album.
In May, a representative of Cyril's turned up at the Crime Suppression Division to lay a complaint against Marsha for breach of copyright.
Cyril's agent, who claimed she was laying the complaint on behalf of Cyril's label, Sony Music Europe, was suing her for 100 million baht after Marsha refused to stop distribution of her album, Alive.
However, Sony Music denied having any relationship with Cyril, and said it knew nothing about the alleged copyright breach.
Marsha responded by lodging an extortion case against Cyril, and said defamation action was likely to follow.
She said Cyril contacted her late last year, offering to work as her producer. The pair registered a company, Marsha Productions, in Nonthaburi. Media reports said the pair fell in love.
The singing star admitted in May that she should have checked Cyril's credentials.
"I did not carry out any checks, because I thought he was the real thing. It was only later that people started to warn me, and I decided to stop working with Cyril. I have since lost contact with him," she said.
Internet searches turned up a Cyril Rouhani who is allegedly wanted on arrest warrants for fraud, in the US and Thailand.
A website, "Cyril Rouhani _ Catch the Con", asked alleged victims to come forward with details of his exploits.
Cyril is now attempting to fight back, launching blogs that show him helping Marsha on her album, entering the monkhood, working as an executive producer and visiting the Ferrari Club.
On the day the saucy images of the Marsha-like figure appeared, Marsha was filming scenes for a soap opera set in a city department store.
