(Mission Valley News, San Diego, CA) â Campland By The Bay has been a fixture in San Diego for over forty years, and yet a lot of San Diego residents have not enjoyed a stay at this beach playground. Located on the North Shore of Mission Bay, this urban campground features hundreds of campsites that accommodate anything from pup tents to Super RVs.The thing that impressed me about Campland By The Bay, was the sense of security I felt on my stay. There was a festive â4th of Julyâ feel to the place that went on after the sun went down. Adults chatted over firepits and BBQs while children rode bikes and scooters in endless laps around the park. This is a great family destination with enough creature comforts for even the biggest camping wuss. Iâll admit, most of the crowd were what I like to call âNascar Prosâ with their custom trailers and RV buses which remind me of rolling apartments. But there were plenty of camping purists as well, with their dome tents and Coleman stoves. The smell of campfires burning filled the air whether you were walking you dog, or heading for a dip in the jacuzzi.
In todayâs economy, it makes sense to âstaycationâ at home and Campland By The Bay provides a great place to relax and enjoy a Southern Californian day and night of beach fun. There are all sorts of watercraft to rent during the day, and at night a fully equipped store has anything you might need or forgot. This same store opens early in the morning where you can grab a hot cup of coffee in your pajamas. Warm showers and clean bathrooms make Campground By The Bay a place Iâd recommend to all my friends whether they live in San Diego or San Bernardino.
