Heart of the Community Walk Committee Presents $15000 Check
The Heart of the Community Walk Committee, a subcommittee of the Heart of the Community Foundation, presented a check for $15,000 to the Citizens for Better Parks today at the Thornton Recreation Center.
Donated funds were raised through the 2011 Heart of the Community Walk and will be used to purchase exercise equipment for the Thornton Center Fitness Room. This equipment will be accessible to the public with the purpose of encouraging overall health and wellness in our community.
The Heart of the Community Foundation works to improve health and promote education in the Rome and Floyd community. It has provided the community with the construction of the Heart House at Redmond Regional Medical Center, construction of the Serenity Garden at Redmond Regional Medical Center, creation of the Par Course Fitness Center at Ridge Ferry Park and has distributed Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) throughout the Community.
The Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority contributes to quality of life and the economic development of the community. The Authority’s mission is to enrich the life of the total community fulfilled through a broad portfolio of year-round recreational programs, services and facilities for all ages. RFPRA programs and services include youth and adults athletics, child care programs, senior programs, and parks and community center management.
