House Hunting: Red Warner Ranch
Welcome to House Hunting. Here, we will take you on a tour, inside and outside, of an area house for sale. And we promise these won’t be ordinary houses. In addition to lots of photos and a written description of each house, our house-hunting team, Kevin Prior, marketing director for the Daily News, and Lori Qualls, Accent editor of the Daily News, will share what they like about each place.
This clean, crisp, contemporary ranch, designed by Red Warner in 1959, is better than new with recent updates and is priced at a $250,000. Located on Nurmi Drive, one of the few streets in Midland that remains unpaved, the house sits on 2.64 acres and backs to Sturgeon Creek. The home built out of concrete block has an almost organic feel to it with many of the interior walls still the original exposed block, which gives the house a loft feel in combination with the vaulted ceilings, edge grain fir and large spans of windows.
As you wind down the long drive the first thing you notice is the glass garage door. The house originally was built with a carport and one of the many improvements to the home was to convert the carport to a garage. It was done perfectly and matches the original style of the home and makes a classy, contemporary first impression. The front entrance parallels the garage and passes one of the few patches of grass that would need to be mowed in the natural landscaping. The wide solid wood front door welcomes you in classic Red Warner 1959 style and takes you directly into the main living areas of the home.
A ceramic tile entry leads into new bamboo floors over the concrete slab, a perfect fit for this home. Straight ahead is the living room measuring 18-by15-feet with an open gas log fireplace at the back of the room. Large windows line the left side of the room and edge grain fir on the back side of the hall closets finish off the right side of the room. The room is perfectly designed for a nice conversation style furniture grouping around the fireplace and looks out onto the outdoor patio with pond. The fireplace is painted a striking red adding to the contemporary style of the home.
Directly to the left of the front entrance is the galley style kitchen that has been updated with Corrian countertops and stainless Dakor appliances and a deep stainless sink with a commercial style pre-rinse faucet. The kitchen is efficient and is warm and contemporary with edge grain cabinets that have been updated with stainless handles. All of the built-in cabinetry and closets throughout the home have been perfectly updated with a strip of light wood and the long stainless handles.

I am looking for a ceramic looking floor tile that has the adhesive back. Saw this on a TLC Show. Any ideas? Posted by admin | Home Improvement Ideas | Posted on August 14th, 2011
I was watching one of those home improvement/makeover shows on TLC the other day and they had redone the floor with a ceramic looking tile that actually had an adhesive back. They said it was actually textured to feel just like a ceramic floor, although it wasn’t. Would anyone have any idea where I can find something like this? I have looked all over the internet and have not come up with anything close. Thank you!
Chosen Answer:I’m not aware of of an adhesive backed tile with ceramic texture. Vinyl tile or vct is an adhesive tile that may have a ceramic looking pattern but it will still feel glossy like vinyl. There are also real ceramic tiles that do not require mortar or concrete board underlayment. The have a composite wood backing and snap together like laminate. The grout lines are then filled with a grout-in-a-can product. Both of these floors are available at Lowe’s Vinyl tile or vct is an adhesive tile that may have a ceramic looking pattern but it will still feel glossy like vinyl.
