We have to assume you're referring to shows on the USA Network, which has built its brand on being a network of "characters." Its slogan is similar to the one used by TNT for the past couple of years — "We Know Drama." You might also remember NBC's "Must-See TV" advertising line during the heyday of the show Friends .

USA began the "Characters Welcome" campaign in June 2005 to draw on the strong characters on several of its shows: Monk, The 4400 and Dead Zone .

"It is easily the biggest campaign we have ever done," Chris McCumber, then senior vice president of marketing and brand strategy for the USA Network and now co-president, told mediapost.com at the time. "We spent months listening to viewers. They said what they liked about USA was that it was 'down to earth.' They liked our strong, odd, heroic characters."

The campaign caught on and has expanded, with the network even commissioning short films to celebrate the character of everyday folks.

'Good Wife' returns next month

I have lost track of The Good Wife . Please tell me when it is scheduled.

The Good Wife , which stars Julianna Margulies, returns to CBS for a third season on Sunday, Sept. 25, at 9 p.m.

Margulies plays Alicia Florrick, whose husband, Peter (Chris Noth), is jailed after a sex scandal. Alicia returns to work as a lawyer after years of caring for their two children.

The show's producers said they patterned the drama after the very public scandals of politicians such as Eliot Spitzer, Bill Clinton and John Edwards.

Parts of TV Masses are in Latin

I'm a recent viewer of Daily Mass on EWTN. What is the name of the church and its address? Are all the Masses said in Latin?

Except for special occasions, the Mass is said at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel, 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, Ala. EWTN, which bills itself as the "global Catholic network," is based in Irondale.

As for the Latin question, according to EWTN, "while the Second Vatican Council (Vatican II) permitted the Mass to be celebrated in local languages, it also directed that Latin continue to be used in parts of Roman Rite liturgies. In compliance with renewed papal exhortations to use Latin in the liturgy, portions of EWTN's English-speaking Masses are prayed in Latin.

Although many wrongly praise creator Scott Peters for "The 4400", it's important to note that he came up with the idea, but his pilot and every subsequent episode he wrote were heavily rewritten. The idea for Maia, for example, was created by Rene Echevarria. Ira Steven Behr, Craig Sweeny, and Robert Hewitt Wolfe did the main writing work that first season and Behr and Sweeny were the main writers for Seasons 2 through 4. Ira Steven Behr was head writer and had a lot do to with the show's political insight.
