ColorTyme owners and vendors connect in General Session
OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. June 17, 2011 More than 140 rent-to-own franchisees and family, vendors and corporate staff members gathered earlier this week in Lake Tahoe, Calif. for the 2011 ColorTyme Summer Meeting. The General Session, held on Thursday, featured presentations made by corporate executives and a number of vendors who offered attendees exclusive discounts on product purchases. This is my first Summer Meeting to attend, and Im having a great time, said ColorTyme owner Jeff Tepper. Im so impressed with the vendor deals and rebates they offer. With the Quick Buys, I was able to buy best-selling items at fantastic prices and can pass the savings on to my customers. I definitely plan to attend next years Summer Meeting. How does it work when you rent to own rims, tires and wheels? Is it more expensive then if you purchase these items outright? We have all seen rent to own stores where there people are able to rent furniture, computers and appliances. Usually these are for people with poor credit or transient people who only need this for a short time frame. The newest rent to own version is now Rims tires and wheels for vehicles.
Yes it is possible to rent name brand tires and wheels for your vehicles and pay weekly payments on them. These stores are making it easy for people to rent these items by not running a credit check, but sometime will check a national database for transactions of return checks, payday loan companies and other businesses.
While you are paying your weekly or monthly amount for your rent or payment, the total purchase price will add up to more than if you purchased these items outright, just as with the original rent to own stores you will not own these items till you make that final payment. Till then, if you fail to make your payments you will lose your wheels and if you didn’t keep your other wheels and tires you will not be going anywhere.
There are additional fees with places like this, you will probably have to keep insurance on the wheels, and maybe even full coverage on the vehicle. You may have to pay a restocking fee if you fail to pay, an application fee.
Renting to own tires and wheels may not make financial sense. If you are unable to make your payments the items will be repossessed, and all the money that you have spent is gone. It may be better to save up for a few months and pay cash or try to find used items because if you use one of these stores then you may get used and returned tires or wheels anyhow as there is no guarantee that you will receive new products.
